Can I display existing posts or do I need to convert them all to Portfolio items

Hi,
I just bought FAT Portfolio and and I’m not a WP wizard. Can you tell me if I can display my existing posts in a masonry layout on a page? Or do I need to convert all my posts to Portfolio items?

If I do need to convert them, is there a quick way that preserves my categories and tags?
