Major page loading issues with shortcode

I’m building a site for a client and am hoping to begin using Fat Event for this and future clients. However, I’ve hit a problem. Evidently, the Fat Event shortcode is loading first, before anything else on the page, making the page excessively long to load.

Here is an example of my page without the shortcode running. It loads quickly

Home (Non-Fat)

Here is an example of my page with the shortcode running. It loads VERY slow. You can see that the Fat Events carousel is loading at the bottom of the page first.
